Stuck on milk!

When a person is under law, there remains a veil over the heart. This veil represents a blindness surrounding the seat of one's intellect concerning the eternal mysteries of God in Christ and Christ in us. It is a blindness chained to external conformity which is unable to grasp and internalize the supernatural power within God's perfect plan of redemption. Which unfortunately leaves one to the tit, perpetually unable to digest solid food. The author of Hebrews puts it like this in his epistle to the Jews:

'For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have there senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith towards God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement.'

What the author of Hebrews was trying to accomplish was to get them past an external relationship with God; and move them into the reality of Christ in them. He desired a unity and fellowship of faith which only this reality could produce. Knowing that only Christ alone could confirm in their hearts the mysterious final and sufficient work within God's precious promise of salvation. He longed for them to leave the elementary principles of external conformity to find God Himself through the New Covenant and enter His rest. 

Author's note:

The only person that can bring about the level of maturity the author of Hebrews sought for them was Christ Himself, the Author and Finisher of all faith. And the only way we can tap into Christ is to unequivocally believe that He actually lives inside us; that we may learn to hear from Him directly, and establish a spiritual dialogue with our King for life. Where even our best theology or works pale in the reality of honestly knowing Him.

'I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body which is the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.' ~ Col. 1:24-27
