Come to Me!

Webster's definition of wise and prudent:
Wise: having or showing good judgment; prudent; discreet; prompted by wisdom; judicious; sound; learned; informed; educated.
Prudent: Capable of exercising sound judgment in practical matters, cautious or discreet in conduct; circumspect; sensible; not rash; careful.

At that time, Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden light.

Matthew 11:25-30 is not a warning against being wise or prudent; this parable is about the kingdom of God and how it is revealed. Jesus is simply saying if you want rest, and you seek revelation, come to Me. Remain in Me, be with Me, and I will reveal the mysteries of the kingdom to you. Human intellect won't suffice! Not theology! Not semanary! I have become for you wisdom from God, you must come to Me.

When Peter and John stood before the crowd to preach, unskilled and uneducated, the people took notice of them because they realised that they had been with Jesus. That God Himself had revealed to them through the person of Jesus Christ the mysteries of the kingdom. My friends how we need this message today. With all our schools of theology and our misdirected praise of man and his intellect. There is only one life giver, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. May we seek Him in unity, with equality that He may be glorified and we may live.

Authors note:
The epistles were not written for some 19 years after Christ's death, yet the church was prosperous. Which means that thousands of christians during the time of the early church never saw an epistle. How in the world did they function with no doctrine, books such as Romans, the pastorial epistles? Somehow we think they all had bibles in their laps while they were listening to Paul or John or whoever teach. But they had no bible, they had the Holy Spirit. Now we have schools and papered men. Then they had Jesus. They were keenly aware of Christ in them. Jesus was the pastor! Jesus was the teacher! There was no laity, no central man in control. Their fellowship was with the Father in Christ. No service orientated manipulation necessary! Just the power of Christ through sharing the life of Christ. The power of the Holy Spirit verses that of the flesh.

You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:39-40

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and of power, the your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. I Cor. 2:1-5
